- Rider University’s “Educator or the Year” in 1995
- Spicer was a 27 year veteran of the South Brunswick school district
- Before coming to South Brunswick, she taught history and English at Madison and Trenton High School
- Spicer started in the district in 1975 as assistant principal to the South Brunswick High School. She later became the principal and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum
- Spicer co-authored The Young Author’s Handbook and many articles on early learning and assessment
- Ms. Spicer was successful in obtaining many grants for the district
