A current application on file is required for anyone wishing to participate in volunteer opportunities. You must wait to receive an email confirming your application has been accepted before applying to a job. Applications WILL NOT be accepted July 1 – Aug 30.
How to get a job? Email the teen staff at teens@sbpl.info to inquire about any open jobs listed. Email is the primary way to communicate both to ask and to verify that the job you selected is yours. Do not just show up.
Positions are marked with a strike through line when filled, and a note when the entirety of the job has been filled.

Miscellaneous Library Opportunities:
Sept 8 until Dec 20: This position is weekly and runs starting in September. Need volunteers to package holds for delivery. You may choose ONE day and specify the time based on the options given. By taking this job you agree to doing this for the entire session until December. Need someone reliable and able to work alone. Date & times listed below.

Sept 4 from 3:30-5:30pm: Friends of Library need volunteers to help move books into their new location in the new building. You must be able to lift and carry 20 lb boxes a short distance. You will need to be picked up promptly as the library will be closing at 6pm. (all positions full)
Voter Registration: Multiple dates available below you may sign up for more then one. Looking for outgoing teens comfortable with public speaking. They will be talking to people walking into the library about the voter registration process and helping to register them. Must be in High School Only.

Saturday October 3rd from 10am -2 pm: Adult Craft Swap, volunteers will be helping with setup & breakdown. As well as need to be comfortable helping patrons during the event & answering simple questions.

Virtual Volunteering
Teen Services is allowing 5 articles per week per person for any articles written by teens. Each article is worth 1 hour of service and dated as of the date published. You can write anything: reviews of anything (personal reviews only); thoughts, informative articles, poetry, or stories. Be aware that these are aimed at your peers, not a school project; so you can write in a more informal style (but if writing factual information remember to cite sources). One of the teen staff members will check your article after you email it, any editing and changes have to be done before the article is posted. You will be informed whether it needs work or if it is to be posted, but posting may be delayed for a variety of reasons. You need to write an article, lists of facts will not be accepted, as lists are not sharing thoughts or opinions and that is the point of the teen blog account.
Another way to volunteer is to make a YouTube video for your fellow teens, or for the little ones (preference is strongly in the “for teens” category). Your video must be submitted to Teen Services in a format that can be uploaded to YouTube, and you must clearly state what audience the video is for and your name. You will receive 2.5 hours per video uploaded, dated as of the date the video is uploaded. You will be informed if the video needs work or if it is to be posted but posting may be delayed for a variety of reasons. Videos must be at least 90 seconds, and cannot be longer than 15 minutes. If any changes or issues arise, you will be notified by email. No more than 3 videos per week allowed. Please note: no more than 3 videos for young children per month.
Remember, you cannot volunteer if you don’t have a current application on file. If you haven’t filed by June 30, you will have to wait until September. Everyone needs to re-submit their application every September.
