Thanks to New Jersey State Senator Andrew Zwicker, South Brunswick will receive $500,000 from the state to go towards the upcoming Library construction project. The additional funds will help offset the unanticipated higher costs of the construction project due to inflation and unexpected site work.
The funding initiative was spearheaded by SBPL Foundation’s campaign chair Bina Mehta and Library Director Chris Carbone. Together with Sen. Zwicker, they helped to secure the funds for the SBPL construction project in the 2023 state budget.
“My own children spent countless hours in the South Brunswick Library when they were students and I am thrilled that we were able to secure the necessary funding to ensure that for years to come, students will have the same opportunity,” said Sen. Zwicker. “The planned upgrade and expansion of the facility will help transform the library, not just into a place to study or to find a favorite book, but as an anchor of the South Brunswick community.”
Sen. Zwicker expressed gratitude to the leadership and staff of the Library and the Foundation, along with his colleagues in the Assembly, Roy Freiman and Sadaf Jaffer. “Their advocacy got us to this point and I can’t wait to see the results,” said Sen. Zwicker.
