Sometimes the library is looking for a volunteer with more skills, or more of a commitment or just someone who wants to do more than the minimum requirements.
Tutoring with the Homework Buddies
Homework Buddies is peer-tutoring program by High School students. It is a drop in program, open to anyone K-12. Those wishing help must bring homework with them to work on, as students are not teaching subjects that students are not already familiar with. If students need help in a more specific subject, a list of tutors who self-identify as comfortable tutoring in those subjects can be obtained by asking at the Information desk or by emailing Saleena Davidson at teens@sbpl.info.
The Homework Buddies can be found near the Information Desk on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. throughout the school year, beginning on Oct. 1st, 2021 through May 31st, 2022.
Teen Voices in Alliance (TVA)
Membership in TVA is not required to be a volunteer at the Library, yet a current volunteer application must be on file.
The South Brunswick Library offers teens the chance to join the Teen Voices in Alliance (TVA). Similar to a student council, the TVA offers teens an opportunity to create and plan future events for the library to ensure the library is reflecting current teen interests.
If you wish to be considered for membership, please explain why you would like to join the group and what you would bring to the TVA. Meetings are generally on the 1st Saturday of every month, and there are requirements for joining TVA and for maintaining membership.
For more information on the TVA or if you wish to apply, email Teen Librarian, Saleena Davidson at teens@sbpl.info.
Executive Voices in Alliance (EVA)
The Executive Voices in Alliance (EVA) is a specialized committee forming the official leadership group of the TVA. This committee is made through applications submitted by current TVA members who wish to take on more of a leadership role. For more information on the EVA, please email out Teen Department at teens@sbpl.info.
EVA is sponsored by Friends of Library
