Monmouth Jct., NJ – 11/16/2023 – The South Brunswick Public Library construction has begun on the Christopher J. Killmurray Building’s “Building the Next Chapter: Constructing Community Spaces” expansion and renovations project.
During construction, the main parking lot and main entrance to the Library will not be accessible.

Access to the temporary parking area from Kingston Lane will be directly across from the entrance to Stanley Ave. Handicapped parking spaces will be located near the rear of the building. With this change there will only be one entrance and exit to the parking area so please exercise caution and drive slowly. Patrons will not be able to drive around the building so those entering and exiting the parking lot will be using the same entrance. Watch for our new speed bumps!

There will be two entrances to the Library building from the temporary parking area. The entrance to the main floor of the building will be from the middle of the temporary parking lot, up a short set of stairs. There is an asphalt pathway leading to this entrance so patrons can safely walk away from traffic.

At the rear of the building, there will be a handicapped accessible entrance for use by anyone that needs it. This entrance will bring patrons into a small Iobby where an elevator will take them to the main floor.

Construction is anticipated to be completed in spring, 2025. During construction the Library may have some occasional closings or brief interruptions in service.
Throughout the construction SBPL will continue to provide high quality programming for people of all ages. However, because of space and parking limitations, most events will either be virtual or at another township facility. Programs may be at the Community Center at Woodlot Park (124 New Road, Monmouth Junction), the Senior Center or at various township parks when the weather is warm.
The SBPL Mobile Branch will be on the road throughout the construction. Patrons can reserve books on the Library’s website and pick them up on the Mobile Branch at one of their pre-determined stops. Patrons can also visit the Mobile Branch to borrow or return books and media. The Mobile Branch schedule is available on the Library website by click on the “Mobile Branch” tab.
Patrons can also return items to book drops around town or at the new outdoor book drop located in the rear of the Library.
