AARP Tax Prep
Free preparation of federal and state income tax returns will be provided Tuesdays and Thursdays starting February 1st. All ages and income levels are welcome to attend, although special attention will be given to low- to moderate-income seniors. Volunteers are trained and certified in cooperation with the IRS and the New Jersey Department of Taxation. The program is available at the South Brunswick Township Library, 110 Kingston Lane. Appointments are required.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, how the AARP Tax-Aide’s IRS-certified tax counselors prepare people’s taxes will be different this year from previous years. They will prepare your return following the IRS and Tax-Aide requirements for a Same-Day Drop-Off Model. A Pre-Appointment Packet containing information on the Same-Day Drop-Off service and tax related forms; that you need to obtain and fill out before your scheduled appointment, can be picked up in advance at the Library or downloaded by clicking on this link.
On appointment day bring the completed forms from the Pre-Appointment Packet along with Photo IDs, last year’s tax return, Social Security cards or statements, health insurance information and all year-end tax documents (W-2 and 1099 income, end of year pay statement, property tax statements, etc.). Questions?: call the South Brunswick Senior Center at 732-329-4000 ext. 7670.
