Cardholders in good standing may borrow any material available for circulation. All borrowing is free of charge. Late fees apply.
Renewals
Most items may be renewed two times. An item may be renewed online, by phone, or in-person. DVDs and video games are renewable if there are no holds.
Returns
All items may be returned to the outside book drop at the Killmurray Building located on Kingston Lane. Book drops located throughout South Brunswick are reserved for print materials only. Mobile Branch print items may be returned to the Mobile Branch, book drops, or the Killmurray Building.
Accessing Your Account
It is a good idea to know how to access your Library account. To do so, you will need to use the 14-digit number found on your library card and your Personal Identification Number (PIN). If you do not have your PIN, call the Borrower Services Desk at 732-329-4000, ext. 7290.
The options to acquire an item that is not available at the Library are as follows:
Holds
A hold (also known as a reserve) can be placed on most items listed in the LMXAC catalog. Some restrictions by lending library may apply.
Holds may be placed through the online catalog, at the Information Desk or by phone at 732-329-4000, ext. 7286. A library card is required to place a hold. Certain restrictions apply.
You will be notified when your reserved item is available.
Interlibrary Loan (Outside of LMxAC)
It is possible to request books outside of the LMxAC Catalog. This request is called an Interlibrary Loan.
Interlibrary Loans can be placed at the Information Desk or by phone at 732-329-4000, ext. 7286. A South Brunswick Library card is required to place a hold. Certain restrictions apply.
If an item is not available within New Jersey, you may request a nationwide search for the item. This will cost up to $4.00 for postage.
You will be notified when your reserved item is available.
Reciprocal and Open Borrowing
Your Library card can be used at the more than 30 member libraries in LMxAC (Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium). The Library also has reciprocal agreements with Franklin Township (Franklin Library Catalog) and M.U.R.A.L. (Middlesex Union Reciprocal Associated Libraries).
A card holder may also want to use the larger lending service Open Borrowing.
If you wish to participate, please contact the Borrower Services Desk for more information.
